Stand By the JAMs (Fine Arts)

Is Fine Arts important in education?

Fine Arts consist of film, theater, music, photography, calligraphy, gastronomy (culinary arts), literature and many other enriching activities. In my opinion, Fine Arts have been in my education since Kindergarten. Fine Arts should be a part of every single student’s life. Arts let students express themselves to the fullest. It allows us to bring out the creative side within and show strong emotions through song, dance, theater, photography and literature (My most favorite). Art requires only two things, a soul and mind.
“The fine arts also provide learners with non-academic benefits such as promoting self-esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness, cultural exposure, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity. These are the very fibers of the fabric known as our American culture.” Stated by Bob Bryant
I have read an article where the title read, "Math vs. Fine Arts", "Which is more important?" Personally, my answer is Fine Arts. Everyone can look look like clones doing Math and Science, but the Arts is what make every person unique in our own way. I will not need the distance formula to write a poem but creativity is required. But there are moments when art and math/science join and react with each, like architecture and sculpture.
Last year, I was in Foundations of Technology, which was basically building things. The teacher said we had to use Geometry and I was surprised because I was not expecting math to be in building. So during that time I got a double dose of  from my actual Geometry and  Foundations of Technology.
The benefits of Fine Arts includes:more lively and active, aware of other cultures, experienced and communicate better. Art has a vast mixture of the religions, heritages, cultures and even other school subjects.(Math, Science, World History, and Geography)
If someone has the temerity to actually believe that Arts is not important in education, then you are mentally deranged.
